“Folk tales and myths, they’ve lasted for a reason. We tell them over and over because we keep finding truths in them, and we keep finding life in them.”
— Patrick Ness
This experience is designed to leverage the power of myth and storytelling to foster deep conversation with others, excavate and explore your inner truths, and guide you to find the specific myths and stories that speak to you in a way that helps you grow and evolve.
Experience Structure
All materials will be delivered and available right here in Substack. It will also be included in the Rebel MFA Sanctuary Handbook that members receive when they join. This program will tentatively start in July 2024.
We will dissect and analyze 8 different myths to find the archetypal and symbolic medicine in each story. Some may be familiar to you while others more obscure. Here is a sneak peek at some of the myths we’ll be diving into during our time together:
The Story of Bluebeard
Mina and Leopard
The Skeleton Hag
Sealskin, Soulskin
…and more!
What You’ll Walk Away With:
A deeper and more personalized understanding of archetypes and interpretation of stories and myths
An understanding of how myth, storytelling, and shadow work can be profoundly transformative for oneself and the world
Exercises and prompts to further the exploration of storytelling and shadows as it relates to personal experiences
Learn a process to use over and over again to find the “medicine” in a story
Create a tangible representation of integrating the stories into personal medicine by creating an oracle deck

Hey, I'm Jade!
I'm an author of over 20 books, a storytelling coach, the creator of the Writing Fiction to Heal method, and the creator of The Rebel MFA Degree and Sanctuary.
I help writers find and tell their stories their way.
I created this program after immersing myself in myth and storytelling education for the past five years. Some of my mentors and teachers include Danielle Dulsky of The Holy Wild, Maria Souza of Women and Mythology, Clarisa Pinkola Estes of Women Who Run with the Wolves, Sara Cleto and Brittany Warman from The Carterhaugh School of Folklore and the Fantastic, and Substack’s very own
As with all my programs, this one was designed with a trauma-informed lens. The “medicine” available in these stories was chosen specifically to aid in healing and recovery work for individuals.
